I went to bed last night and had a bad dream. Julia Gillard was the Prime Minister of Australia instead of Kevin Rudd. He was bad enough but she was a lot worse. A huge budget deficit, $250 billion in government debt, the unions in control, ‘all men are misogynists’, us versus them, a carbon tax.
I woke up in a sweat. Was it all real? Could it be possible? Phew! It was all a bad dream. Kevin was still PM.
And then he spoke. Maybe Julia wasn’t so bad after all?
Kevin Rudd has made his first speech as the new leader of the Labor Party.
Don’t assume Kevin Rudd will be Prime Minister of Australia tomorrow.
If the Governor General does her job correctly, she will ask him if he will have the confidence of the House of Representatives. That can only be done by a vote tomorrow.
If that doesn’t happen, the Governor General must commission the Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott, as Prime Minister.

Kevin Rudd is back as leader of the Australian Labor Party. More big words, more blah, blah, blah.
God help us all!
Clive Palmer is a capable businessman who should stick to doing what he knows best: Creating prosperous businesses that employ lots of people.
He should give up on politics. The Palmer United Party has no cohesive policies, no clear message and has lost control of its agenda.
If Clive wants a place in history, people will remember him more for the thousands of jobs he creates rather than the ineffective politician he has the potential of becoming.
The wise men and women who deposed Kevin Rudd now realise that putting Julia Gillard in as PM was a mistake.
Keep her! Please! We want to vote her out big time.
We need you to stay as Prime Minister so Labor is wiped from the political landscape on 14th September.
